Girl talk

June 21, 2012

Ellie and I were sharing some chocolate coconut brownies that we’d filched from an event held in another department at work.  Ellie and I have been working together for 15 years.  She’s like my sister—I can tell her anything

It was late afternoon and we were the only two in the office.

“Jenny, there’s nobody I enjoy eating chocolate with more than you,” Ellie said.

I’m enthusiastic when I eat my chocolate, and Ellie appreciates that.

“Shhhh.  Be quiet.  I’m trying to savor the moment.”

The office was unusually peaceful and the chocolate coconut concoctions were beyond divine.

Ellie giggled.

“This is fun,” I said between bites.  “And really, it’s not so decadent.  I’m entitled.  Aunt Flo is in town.”

“Is that the one who drank all of Papa’s vodka?” she asked.

After I almost killed myself snorting chocolate, I managed to convey to Ellie that I didn’t actually have an Aunt Flo.  It was Grandma Bean who drank all of Papa’s vodka.  Aunt Flo is just code for “that time of the month.”

Then Ellie laughed her ass off.  “We call it the red motorcycle,” she said

And I snorted chocolate again.

I guess you had to be there.

In Bean News
*  I started my post on watching grass grow, but it’s going a little slow.

*  Papa has been communicating with loose women on Facebook.  The problem is that Papa can’t spell, and he’s always asking me how to spell words, and it confuses poor Jax.  “Papa,” he asked, “why don’t you know how to read?”

*  It’s summer at Maison Bean and Moose is out in the yard all day long, and several times a day, he takes off his clothes and runs around flashing the neighbors, which is why I’m posting this song.

Get the recipe for the chocolate coconut brownies!

Papa’s on Facebook? Wow, that almost makes me want to reactivate my account and make him my only friend!

Little naked kids running around outside in your yard is cute. Hopefully he won’t carry this over into his teens.

Never a dull moment!

Weeellll, at least your Aunt is not CRAZY (yet) like mine….She keeps showing up ,or not, at the oddest times. Boy, she burns me up. And makes me sweat. And wakes me up in the middle of the night. I hope to soon be able to kick her to the curb forever. Then I will have to come up with a new excuse for eating chocolate! I will be so glad to see the back of that bitch……….
ps There is nothing wrong with little naked boys; actually it is quite common at my house, too. If only I could do the same………….

Ah, “The Streak”, too bad there were not YouTube videos back in the day when you kept trying to describe this song to me by singing it over and over again! Those were the days!!!

Red motorcycle? I would have snorted brownies, too!
Papa on Facebook? That just makes me smile – he could find lots of trouble to get into!

@ Ally, I think Papa should have a fan page? What do you think? Has merits.

Jeez, Jenny…do you know how hard it is to laugh and sneeze at the same time? I think I’d rather snort chocolate. Aunt Flo drank Papa’s vodka. That’s the best laugh I’ve had all night…well, after the sneeze. During the sneeze was kind of weird…and I’m glad there were no witnesses.

Red motorcycle? Too funny.

I remember that song. And another he did that was pretty funny. It’s Me Again, Margaret. I may just head over to YouTube and see if it’s there.

Keep watching your grass grow. If you’re experiencing a heatwave like we are in MICHIGAN (which is NOT the tropics), that’s a good way to spend your time….avoiding working up a sweat. 🙂
