My dog ate my post

October 6, 2010

Hyacinth ate this week’s blog post.

The truth be told, there’s a three-ring circus going on at Maison Bean these days that leaves no time to think, let alone be witty.  Papa left for the Annual Geriatric Bike Ride Across Country.  If you spy a bevy of old dudes on recumbent bicycles anywhere between Mobile and Phoenix, offer a word of encouragement before hurrying home to lock up the booze.

Papa’s departure means that I have to mow the lawn, shop for groceries, and, heaven forbid, make dinner.  Somehow in all the mayhem, I managed to send off an article to Better Way Moms, and after that, I got absorbed in a book (Cathy Lamb, Such a Pretty Face), and I never managed to write a post for this week.  So rather than put something out that’s second rate, I’m going to share the cuteness this week.

Before he left, Papa bought the boys a swing set.  I guess he figured it would help with the babysitting.  Moose took to it like a duck to water.

Speaking of water, there’s a Moose in the swimming pool!

Jax says the funniest things.  Friday, we headed over to our neighbor’s house so the moms could drink margaritas the kids could play.

“I like Fletch’s house, Mommy,” Jax said. “I like Fletch… a cause he’s a smart kid like me.”

A dog’s work is never done.  Hyacinth actually prefers cookies to blog posts.

When life gives you lemons….

Jax’s bedrail stayed up longer than he really needed it.  He liked to line his cars on it at night before he went to bed.  I finally took it down Sunday because he and Moose kept climbing on it.  I found him like this later that night.  After I snapped the photo, I set up a table beside his bed.  In the morning he came running into my room.

“Mommy, Mommy, when I waked up there was a table aside my bed with all my cars on it, and I don’t know who put it there.”

Leprechauns have to sleep too.

 Peekaboo!  C u next Wednesday!

There’s like a cuteness overload going on at your place. Even the dog. Squeeze them all!

Well, if those aren’t the most adorable kids in the world!

Thanks so much, ladies. They really are little blessings… most of the time!

Life is a little crazy right now. I’ll be visiting your blogs soon.

Cheers! Jenny

What a lovely little family you have there! I love ALL the pics, but when I saw the one of Jax’s with the Hotwheels cars, I went, “Awwwwww…..!!!” Because it reminded me of when my son was little like that and he loved his cars, too. I had to eventually get him one of those carrying cases for all his cars, and he still didn’t have enough spaces to park them in because he had so many. How adorable is that when they sleep with their favorite toys?

Also, I’m in love with his little crocheted blanket. Did you make it?

Yes, that is about the cutest darn blanket ever! Kids cute too! Blanket II is in the final stages and way over budget but I don’t care. I am determined.

Jenn October 8, 2010 at 12:38 pm

Uh, can you tell who made that blanket?!

Moose has been waiting 18 months for his!

Poor Jax. Can’t leave the house without a bag of cars. A BIG bag of cars. The boy needs to start traveling light….like a real man.

I’ll take him on a bike trip in a few years and after a few hills those cars will be shipped home.

Did you tidy up that line of cars or did he put them that way?
I ask because it’s a little OCD’ish. But, I like a tidy boy. Especially when I have 4 daughters who tend to be slovenly.

Jenn October 20, 2010 at 4:35 pm

Unfortunately, it’s just the trains and cars that he’s OCD about. FOUR kids–you are the woman!
