If you pray…

April 28, 2011

Please say prayers for the victims and their families of the tornados that ripped through the South last night.

Before Papa moved to Maison Bean, he was living in Tuscaloosa.  He still has ties to both Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, and we pray for their safety.

I had no idea we had this in common too!
It’s awful.

I actually remembered that we have this in common–you had just moved back to Tuscaloosa to help your mother with your grandmother–when we corresponded a long time ago.

It is awful. Catastrophic. I think my mom said the winds were 200 mph.

My sister lives in Tuscaloosa. I was so scared for her this morning when I wok up and heard what happened. I posted about it too. Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. So scary.

It’s really devastating! I hope they get the assistance needed to rebuilt. Our government has a habit of screwing stuff like this up! For some reason, we can come to the aid of foreign nations, but when it comes to our own, it just doesn’t always go smoothly.

My thoughts to the families who suffered losses of homes and loved ones.

I will most definitely say prayers for all those who were affected by those terrible storms. We live in Tornado Alley here in Kansas and this is the beginning of the tornado season here. My sister lives in Arkansas and just barely missed a tornado that hit the AirForce base she works on. It hit the school and took out 20 homes just a few days ago. Luckily, she went to work that morning instead of the evening shift she normally works, which is when it hit.

I have friends in Tuscaloosa, Fayette and Birmingham, Alabama. Some of these people live 100 miles apart and ALL lost power. Other than a few trees down, they had no other damage.

It took me 36 hours to verify that everyone was okay. I was ecstatic hearing the good news. Then I got to thinking about all the lost of life and property. Bummer.

It makes the bitching I did this morning about Hyacinth yapping at the back door seem kind of petty.

Absolutely. Watching the news, our weatherman was showing icons of all the tornadoes that hit that day. I couldn’t believe my eyes! Unbelievable. The same storm came through our area a day or two before, but it didn’t do near the damage I don’t think.

Prayers and hopes that we don’t set any more of these kinds of records.

Thanks Jenny for this! I’m going to share it on my website with a link to you. I really like the youtube video because it didn’t say a word. It was meaningful. I’ll be thinking of all the people you and Papa know.
